St Mary Magdalene, Ditcheat Our church is over 700 years in old parts, it is acknowledged to be one of the finest churches in the country and is listed Grade I by English Heritage. We are lucky to have such a fine building in our village which for centuries has been an essential component of our everyday lives. The church is looked after by the Parochial Church Council of Ditcheat, two church wardens, sidesmen, flower arrangers, brass cleaners, fund raisers, locker uppers and bell ringers, . Like all old buildings, the church requires regular repair and attention to maintain the integrity of the fabric and contents, our variable weather together with increasing atmospheric pollution take a heavy toll on the building. In common with all church properties the PCC are obliged to carry out a detailed inspection of the fabric of the church and its dependent buildings every five years.
